The Denville PAL Striders Track & Field
Welcome to the 2016 Denville Striders Track & Field Program! We are looking forward to a great season and the continuation of a great program. Below is some preliminary information for those that are not familiar with the program.
Practices are either at the Morris Knolls High School track or the Morris Catholic High School track. Practices will be decided on a weekly basis (due to track availability).
Our track program is broken down into 3 age groups. The 9-10's, the 11-12's and the 13's and over. A parent (or designated adult) will be required to stay at practice for athletes in the 9/10 age group only. There are over 100 children in the program and it is for their safety that an adult be in attendance.
There will be 7 regular meets during the season beginning in April. All of the regular season meets will be on Sunday (except for one on the Saturday before Mother's Day) . The season also has a qualifying relay meet (Friday night in late May), a championship meet (Saturday in June), and an Open meet (Sunday in late May). Athletes must attend at least one practice during the week in order to participate in the meet that week. Athletes usually participate in 2-3 running events, and a field event (long jump or shot put).
Please be sure athletes have eaten at least one hour before practice. All athletes should bring water, wear layered clothing, tie back long hair, and wear running sneakers. For those athletes who prefer wearing spikes, they are allowed at home and away meets.
Please mark down Monday June 13th for our annual Track Banquet! All of the coaches are looking forward to a great season!
